About Us

A dedication to our nation’s first people, Bunji is the Aboriginal word for mate and usually used when addressing a friend. It’s also pronounced the same as “Bungee”, when “Bungee jumping” you take a leap of faith with the notion that just before you hit the ground, the rubber band fastened to your ankles will stop you and spring you back up, hence “we bounce back”.

Bunji was founded on a dream to acknowledge the critical importance of meeting the immediate emotional and mental health needs of people going through trauma and to provide people with a choice of that support, regardless of their financial and geographical situation. It’s free, there is no long wait times or excessive paperwork, it can be accessed virtually and the services are donated by practitioners of all modalities all over the globe!

Long term outcomes of not addressing these needs are evidenced in high suicide rates, depression, PTSD and domestic violence. We are here to prove a point … that when we care for people on the inside, and make that a priority, those people then have strong foundations to rebuild their lives with greater ease, success and long term contentment.

Bunji is here for those times that life feels overwhelming … that we are standing before the impossible. It is here when we may be unable to see anything in our future, when we feel like we have no choices, that the rug has been pulled out from underneath us. Everyday people face times like this and everyday people need a place to be heard and understood, to feel supported and maybe even guided in the next right step. Connection with caring others ‘allows in’ another solution … a solution that can make all the difference in our ability to do what needs to be done in trying times.

Our mission at Bunji is to make possible what once felt impossible through our vision of providing the world’s easiest path to an unshakable and empowered sense of self.

Bunji acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we operate, the Gadigal people of the Eora nation and their Elders past, present, and future.
